Goodwood Revival Weekend

What dreams are made of.

The sad thing about well-kept classic race cars is they are rarely out on show. The sad reason they are so well preserved is normally due to being locked up in a fancy garage or collection somewhere only for the owners to appreciate.

Goodwood Revival weekend blows that to bits. The event taking place every September consists of the golden era of Goodwood Motor Circuit, between 1948 and 1966. This extraordinary event, a theatrical and sporting drama, assembles the most significant racing cars and motorcycles along with legendary drivers and riders from the past and stars of today. They have been able to boast about having the “most Expensive motor race ever”.

The grids of cars can reach up to a value of 200m in a single race! Even more so the paddock in its entirety can be worth up to half a billion pounds.

The main event for the Jaguar lovers would be the Kinrara Trophy and its grid of pre-1963 closed cockpit GT cars. This consists of Jaguars, Ferrari, AC Cobra’s & Maserati’s. The race taking about an hour or so takes place at dusk meaning in the low light nothing looks more beautiful.

“Most would expect to find cars of this value locked away in a garage or museum, but at the Revival you will find them racing into the dusk, headlights blazing, and brake discs glowing as they roar around one of the fastest and most demanding circuits in the UK.” - Revival and Festival of Speed Founder the Duke of Richmond.

If you are looking to book to go you also may have to book in advance. The event boasts 15,000 people over the three days it takes place but these are all sold in advance selling out weeks in advance.

The venue cannot accommodate more meaning the capacity cannot grow with the higher and higher demand to see these classic, pristine cars race on a beloved circuit.

The dress code while not mandatory is of period nature meaning you will be seeing lots of 50’s era clothing. Couple this with the cars and it’s hard not to romanticise the event.

Tickets for a single day start at £79pp while the full 3 day ticket costs £188. If you are looking for a good time you can also purchase tickets to enter the paddock where you also enjoy a 3 course meal and see all the action close up, tickets setting you back over £250pp.
